Laptop and water bottle stickers from a home sticker printer
Cricut calls its laminated StickerPix sticker sheets water-resistant; Liene calls its PixCut S1 stickers waterproof. Neither publishes dishwasher, heat or outdoor-lifetime claims, so treat those as unknown.

Who this is for
Anyone making decorative stickers for a laptop lid, water bottle, phone case, notebook cover or gift, where the sticker gets handled, wiped or splashed. Here, what the paper is claimed to survive matters more than how many fit on a sheet.
Which machine fits
- Custom die-cut-look shapes: Cricut StickerPix Print + Cut or Liene PixCut S1, both on 4 × 7 in sticker sheets (Cricut shop (US); Liene tech specs). Both kiss-cut: Cricut says its StickerPix machines “can only make kiss-cut custom stickers” (Cricut blog), and Liene’s cuts go around the design after laminating (Liene blog). You peel each sticker off the backing yourself.
- StickerPix Print pre-cut sheets top out at 1.5 in circles and squares and 1 × 2.6 in rectangles (Cricut blog), which is small for a laptop lid.
- Canon SELPHY CP1500 has no cutter in Canon’s specifications (Canon spec sheet).
Water-resistant or waterproof? What the makers say
Both machines laminate the sticker as it prints. Cricut says its machines “laminate to add a layer of protection for prints that are water-, scratch-, and fade-resistant” (Cricut blog). Cricut uses the word resistant; Liene uses waterproof. Neither defines a test, a soak time or a number of washes.
| Claim | Cricut StickerPix sticker sheets | Liene PixCut S1 sticker paper |
|---|---|---|
| Water | “fade-, water-, and scratch-resistant” once laminated (Cricut shop (US) refill); not called waterproof there | “The stickers are waterproof, fade-resistant, and scratch-resistant” (Liene shop) |
| Moisture and use | Laminate is “water-, fade-, scratch-, and smudge-resistant” (Cricut shop (US) refill) | “sticks securely on smooth surfaces and resists moisture, making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and kids’ gear” (Liene materials guide) |
| Fade and UV | Fade-resistant (Cricut shop (US) refill); no UV figure | “UV-resistant prints” (Liene materials guide); no duration given |
| Adhesive and removal | “a durable, long-lasting adhesive” (Cricut shop (US) refill); removability Not published | “designed to be removable, allowing you to reattach the stickers to other surfaces” (Liene shop) |
| Dishwasher, soaking | Not published | Not published |
| Heat (hot drinks, laptop vents) | Not published | Not published |
| Outdoor lifetime | Not published | Not published |
Practical care, given what is not published
- Dishwasher: neither maker says its stickers are dishwasher-safe, so treat that as unknown. Hand-washing is the cautious choice.
- Heat: no heat rating is published. Keep stickers off laptop vents and anything that gets hot.
- Surface: Liene’s claim is about “smooth surfaces” (Liene materials guide). Apply to a clean, dry, smooth spot; tight curves, textured plastic and silicone are not covered by either claim.
- Food and drink: neither maker describes the stickers as food-safe. Keep them on the outside of bottles and away from where your mouth touches.
Sizes, and how many fit on a sheet
Bigger decorative stickers mean few per sheet. The sheet maker goes up to 2 in; for 2.5 or 3 in stickers, arrange them directly in Design Space or the Liene app.
| Sticker size | Good for | 4×7 sheet, general preset | 4×7 sheet, Liene preset | 4×6 file, general preset | Per sticker, StickerPix Print + Cut | Per sticker, PixCut S1 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.5 in | Bottle accents, phone cases | 8 (2 × 4) | 8 (2 × 4) | 6 (2 × 3) | 8.3¢ | 7.5¢ |
| 2 in | Water bottles, notebooks | 3 (1 × 3) | 3 (1 × 3) | 2 (1 × 2) | 22.2¢ | 19.9¢ |
| 2.5 in | Laptop lids | 2 (1 × 2) | 2 (1 × 2) | 2 (1 × 2) | 33.3¢ | 29.9¢ |
| 3 in | Laptop lids, larger bottles | 2 (1 × 2) | 2 (1 × 2) | 1 (1 × 1) | 33.3¢ | 29.9¢ |
Cost per decorative sticker
At 2 in, 3 stickers fit within Liene’s printable area, so each costs 19.9¢ in PixCut S1 supplies (our calculation: $42.99 ÷ 72 ÷ 3). Liene’s own refill page quotes “$0.2 per sticker(2inch)” (Liene shop), which matches. On a StickerPix Print + Cut the same layout works out to 22.2¢ (our calculation: $47.99 ÷ 72 ÷ 3). At 2.5 in and 3 in only 2 fit, so it pays to fill leftover space with small stickers if you arrange the sheet in the printer’s app. Each print uses a full ribbon panel either way (Kerri Crafts It). Design and file tips
- Work at 300 DPI. 1 in = 300 px, so a 1 in sticker is 300 px, 1.5 in is 450 px and 2 in is 600 px. A full sheet is 1200 × 2100 px for 4 × 7 in, or 1200 × 1800 px for 4 × 6 in.
- Use transparent PNGs for shaped stickers. Liene says transparent PNGs are especially useful for the PixCut S1’s automatic outline cutting (Liene product page). The sheet maker’s white border then follows the artwork’s outline instead of a rectangle.
- Add a white border and keep gaps. The sheet maker’s default border is 1/16 in, and it keeps 0.125 in between stickers so borders never touch.
- Stay inside the printable area. Liene publishes 3.9 × 6.7 in on its 4 × 7 in paper (Liene tech specs). Cricut has not published one for StickerPix, so the sheet maker’s general preset assumes a 0.15 in margin.
- Give larger art enough pixels. A 3 in sticker needs 900 px of artwork across; upscaled phone screenshots look soft at that size.
- Print one test sheet first. Liene’s own advice is to “Run a test print and cut before committing to a batch” (Liene materials guide).
Untested: whether Cricut Design Space cuts each sticker on a combined sheet PNG separately, or only around the outer outline, is unknown. We have not been able to test it on a StickerPix yet. See how to upload your own designs.
Make the sheet in your browser
Add your artwork and choose 2 in for bottle-sized stickers. The free sheet maker lays out 1 to 2 in stickers on a 4×6 or 4×7 in sheet, adds the white border and downloads a 300 DPI transparent PNG. Your images are never uploaded.
Questions
Are home-printed stickers waterproof?
It depends on whose wording you use. Cricut calls its laminated sticker sheets “fade-, water-, and scratch-resistant” (Cricut shop (US) refill), not waterproof. Liene says its stickers “are waterproof, fade-resistant, and scratch-resistant” (Liene shop). Neither publishes a soak or wash test.
Are they dishwasher-safe?
Not published by Cricut or Liene. We would hand-wash a stickered bottle.
Will a sticker come off my laptop cleanly?
Liene says its sticker paper is “designed to be removable” and describes an “easy-peel backing that leaves no adhesive residue” (Liene shop). Cricut does not publish removal or residue behaviour. Neither publishes how long a sticker stays put on a warm laptop.
