Cricut StickerPix Print vs Canon SELPHY CP1500: budget sticker printers without a cutter

  • Specs comparison
  • Not hands-on
  • Every figure sourced

Both are 300 DPI dye-sublimation printers with no custom-shape cutter (Cricut shop (US); Canon spec sheet). The StickerPix Print ($169.00) prints onto 4 × 6 in pre-cut sticker sheets with five or six shapes each (Cricut Help Center); the SELPHY CP1500 prints card-size label sheets and adds USB-C, an SD slot and an optional battery (Canon manual; Canon spec sheet).

Who should pick which

  • Lower supplies cost per sticker: the StickerPix Print, at 10.2¢–12.2¢ per pre-cut sticker (our calculation: $32.99 ÷ 54 per sheet, ÷ 6 or ÷ 5) (Cricut shop (US) refill; Cricut Help Center), against 83.3¢ per KC-18IF full-page label (our calculation: $14.99 ÷ 18) (Canon U.S.A. shop (KC-18IF)). The shapes and sizes differ, so this is not like for like.
  • Round, square or rectangle stickers in Cricut’s sizes: the StickerPix Print. Its pre-cut sheets hold 1.5 in circles, 1 × 2.6 in rectangles or 1.5 in squares (Cricut Help Center), and Design Space fills each preset shape with your photo or design (Cricut Help Center).
  • Tiny labels: the SELPHY’s 8-label sheet has 22 × 17.3 mm labels (Canon manual); you need the PCC-CP400 card-size cassette, sold separately (Canon U.S.A. support).
  • Printing away from a power outlet: the SELPHY, with its optional NB-CP2LH battery (up to 54 prints per charge) (Canon spec sheet). Cricut lists an external AC adapter for the StickerPix Print (Cricut shop (US)).
  • Printing from a computer by cable, a USB flash drive or an SD card: the SELPHY lists USB-C (for a computer or flash drive) and an SD card slot (Canon spec sheet). The StickerPix Print lists Wi-Fi only, and Cricut says Design Space needs an internet connection (Cricut shop (US)).
  • Mostly 4 × 6 photos: both print 4 × 6 in photos (Cricut shop (US); Canon spec sheet). SELPHY KP-108IN prints work out to about $0.39 each (our calculation: $41.99 ÷ 108) (Canon U.S.A. shop (KP-108IN)); a per-photo price for the StickerPix Print isn’t in our sources.
  • Stickers cut to the outline of your design: neither. Look at the StickerPix Print + Cut and PixCut S1, or at a Cricut cutting machine with Print Then Cut.

Printer prices are close: $169.00 for the StickerPix Print at Cricut (Cricut shop (US)) and $179.00 for the SELPHY CP1500 at Best Buy (Best Buy). Canon’s own store page didn’t load for us, so Canon’s list price is not shown. Prices change — check the retailer.
